Imagine you were a miner destined to live out your days in an amiable but ultimately unadventurous subterranean civilisation, battering rocks in solitude as the world around. You’ll need to take out her mirages and counter her attacks. Eastward is a Zelda-like adventure game that manages to put its own ambition front and centre - from what we played so far, it could be brilliant. Afterwards, head east to trigger another leading to a fight with Isabel. As an older man named John and his energetic young charge, Sam. When you reach the end, a dialog event triggers. Eastward opens in the subterranean community of Potcrock Isle, where residents fear the wasteland they believe exists above them. Head forward to start a section of you being chased by miasma through a building. Eastward features a dual combat system that lets the player swap at-will between John and Sam. A deadly toxic presence has spread across the land, destroying and devouring everything in its path. In the near-future, society is starting to collapse, and the human population is at an all-time low. John looks after and serves as a father-figure to Sam, although Sam is quick to correct anyone who suggests that the two are truly related in such a way. Much of her past unknown, she was discovered by John, a weathered miner, in an underground tank before the events of the story. Head east then north through the bramble field to find a Heart Orb. Sam, a young child, is one of the two playable characters in Eastward and acts as a protagonist of the game. Follow the path east to trigger multiple dialog events then head through some areas based on previous places you’ve been. Take it to find a chest with a Health Orb, then return to the stairs to keep heading forward where you’ll eventually trigger a dialog event with a Proto Breeder who will take your weapons minus the pan. After you pass the section where you dodged all of the lasers, there will be a teleport pad before a set of stairs. Return to the western path to keep pressing on. After defeating it, if you take the eastern path, you’ll end up in a room with a chest containing 150 salt and a stove. The way forward is pretty linear so keep following the path and you’ll end up on a platform that seals behind you forcing you to fight a jumping zombie. Head east and step on the floor pad to reach the next area. Below is a walkthrough for the Charon Chapter 8 quest in Eastward.
